Twitter is an amazingly distracting service, there is just so much to read, follow that a person with ADD can spend his entire working day on tweets and chasing the links on tweets.
Given the medium , the king among twitterers post 25-30 tweets a day, Gkhamba , jhunjhunwala, zenrainman among the guys I follow. However for occassional twitterers, I don't think it is a good medium. Most of your friends and associates would be following these kings and your tweets would get lost. Hence blog posting, use of facebook or linkedin may be a better place to post updates or better still link all these accounts. But this may be a problem for people leading a double life, an official persona on linkedin and a personal one on facebook
